PDF Report – Box Plots

A box plot should quickly give you an idea of where the data is and how it spreads across the possible range. A box depicts the range containing 50% of the data. The median is shown as a horizontal line within the box.The median is the typical value and is unaffected by the outliers, it divides the data in two ranges; each range contains 50% of the data. Our box plots have also lines (so called whiskers), which extend the boxes vertically, indicating variability outside the lower (25th percentile) and upper (75th percentile) quartiles.
The spacing between the different parts of the box indicate the degree of scattering and skewness in the data.
